Plan

2. Plan

What Should the County Plan for its Future? During this phase, the planning team is building on the trends and conditions information and work with the community to establish a shared community vision, explore alternative growth patterns, and develop a land use plan and supporting goals and policies.

The draft vision, goals, and policies are available for review:

  • Draft Vision, Goals, and Policies
The Vision, Goals, and Policies will be the essence of the Comprehensive Plan.

Vision: A statement of what the community desires for its future. The planning team will work with the community and build on Vision2020Sheridan to develop the Vision.

Goals: Concise statements of what the community aims to accomplish over the life of the plan.

Policies: Specific directions the County will take to Act the individual plan goals and, ultimately, the vision.

  • Future Land Use Plan
The Future Land Use Plan will guide future land use and development patterns in the County. The planning team will work with the community to explore options, prepare a draft plan, and refine it, as follows:

    1. Scenarios
In this step, the planning team will work with the community to develop two to three future land use scenarios. Scenarios should provide choices for future growth patterns and identify implications of different patterns. The planning team will refine and combine options based on community feedback.

    2. Draft Future Land Use Plan
The draft plan will illustrate the desired growth patterns for the County. The planning team will continue to refine the Future Land Use Plan with the community.
