Get Involved

Public involvement is important for creating a shared vision for Sheridan County’s Future. You will have many different opportunities to get involved to help shape the plan through fall 2008.

Four main ways to stay involved are:

  1. Attend CAC Meetings
The Board of County Commissioners appointed a Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) to help guide the plan process. This group of citizens from all across the County represents a variety of interests and backgrounds. The CAC will meet with the planning team every four to six weeks to review products, share ideas, and craft recommendations for the plan.

These meetings are open to the public, and each meeting will allow some time for public comments. Please attend, listen to the discussion, and share your ideas or concerns. The County will announce meetings in the newspaper and on the Upcoming Events portion of this site. The website will also contain notes for each meeting under CAC Meeting Notes.

  2. County Officials Study Sessions
The Board of County Commissions and Planning and Zoning Commission will meet regularly with the planning team to hear updates and provide direction. Study sessions will be open to the public.

The County will announce meetings in the newspaper as well as on the Upcoming Events portion of this site. Meeting notes from each study session will be posted on this website under County Officials Meetings.

  3. Community Events
Community events will occur at key steps in the process as a means for broad public involvement and input. Events will range from “roll-up-the-sleeves” workshops, to open houses, to small sit-down meetings. Locations will vary.

The County will announce meetings in the newspaper as well as on this website under Upcoming Events.

In addition to these formal events, the planning team will also be attending regularly scheduled community events such as the county fair and high school sporting events. Stop by and share your ideas!

  4. Project Website
The planning team will maintain this website regularly as a clearinghouse for Comprehensive Plan project information and work products. In addition, the site will host periodic surveys and comment forms for residents to share their ideas. Sign up for our e-mail list and receive e-mail notifications of major site updates and project announcements.
